FAQ

Discord role colors, explained

What is a Discord role color / decimal color?+

A Discord role color is the accent color shown next to a member’s name and on their role in the sidebar. Under the hood Discord stores that color as a single decimal integer (0 to 16777215) rather than a hex string. The decimal value is simply the hex color converted from base 16 to base 10, so #5865F2 becomes 5793266.

How do I set a custom role color?+

Open your server, go to Server Settings, then Roles, and pick the role you want to change. Under Role Color choose a preset or click the custom color box and paste a hex code like #5865F2. Save the changes and every member with that role will show the new color, with the highest role in the list determining the color that is displayed.

How do I convert hex to the Discord color number?+

Remove the leading # from the hex code and read the remaining six characters as a base-16 number. Converting that to base 10 gives the decimal color integer Discord uses. This tool does it instantly in both directions: type a hex code to get the decimal, or type a decimal to get the hex, RGB, and HSL values.

Is it free?+

Yes. This Discord role color picker is completely free with no login or account required. Everything runs entirely in your browser, and nothing you pick or type is ever sent to a server.
